Particles physics : theory and simulation with Epos

Benjamin Guiot

Subatech (groupe Théorie)

Up to now the standard model has been very successful to describe particles and their interactions. Strong interaction is described by Quantum ChromoDynamics (QCD) which have significantly improved our understanding of hadronic matter. However
phenomena like confinment and Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) are still not well understood. Hadronic physics is experimentally studied in colliders like the LHC. An event generator, like Epos, is a useful tool to simulate these collisions.
After a short revue of hadronic physics, I will present (a part of) EPOS and how it tries to reproduce the physics of colliders.
