    Nuit Blanche des Chercheurs

The Nuit Blanche des Chercheurs is a programme that has existed since 2017, organised by the University of Nantes. This event is at the crossroads of art and research.

The aim of the Nuit Blanche des Chercheurs is to offer a free event open to the general public.

Conceived as an evening event, from 6pm to midnight, this event allows the public to meet researchers. With a rich programme for all tastes, everyone can discuss and exchange.

With the Nuit Blanche des Chercheurs, the researchers take up the challenge of integrating you into their world. During this one and only night, they will try to captivate and convince you in their own way, with their own words.

This is the perfect opportunity to understand what research is, what work is being done and what it will change in the future. It is the perfect opportunity to infiltrate this integral part of society, so close and yet so far away.

Dark matter, the quest for the invisible

In the Maxi room at Stereolux, Julien Masbou, a lecturer and researcher at Subatech Xenon team, took the audience on a journey into one of the great mysteries of contemporary physics: dark matter. For more than forty years, it has defied scientists. Invisible, silent, elusive, it resists all attempts at detection. Yet its attraction shapes the dance of galaxies, sculpts the structure of the cosmos, and imposes itself on our equations as a matter of course. Nothing holds together without it... and yet it still eludes our gaze. This presentation explored the research being conducted around the world, from underground laboratories to the far reaches of space, in an attempt to unravel this fascinating mystery.

    Science dating

La Throughout the evening, the public had the opportunity to discover science in a different way by talking directly with researchers during one-on-one meetings lasting a few minutes. Around forty scientists shared their work and answered visitors' questions on a variety of topics: digital technology, health, education, biology, psychology, and much more. Among them was Fanny Courtin, a researcher at Subatech Scenario team, participated in these meetings and shared with the public her research on the role of nuclear energy in the energy transition.

An evening rich in discoveries, exchanges, and wonder. Thank you to our scientists for their participation.

    2025

Nantes University and Stereolux have once again joined forces to offer a unique and fascinating event: the Researchers' Sleepless Night, a moment when culture, art and scientific research meet. This 9th edition, with the theme of “Metamorphoses”, took place on February 6, 2025. Once again, Subatech was present with its stand and participation in the science dating! Many thanks to François Arleo, Guillaume Batigne, Pietro Benzoni, Fanny Courtin, Jad Halwani, Jakub Licko Baptiste Métivier, and Benoit Revenu for their participation!
