Plateforme RADIANTES

RADIANTES (Nantes-based radiochemistry research platform), created in 2025, is part of the Radiochemistry team at the Subatech laboratory, located on the IMT-Atlantique site. The main purpose of the research platform is to support the team's scientific programs developed as part of research projects with external academic or industrial partners, particularly those in the nuclear sector. Research activities focus on the behavior and fate of radionuclides in the environment, the evaluation of waste conditioning matrices under storage conditions, issues related to the decontamination and remediation of nuclear facilities, and the chemistry of radionuclides for applications in nuclear medicine. The platform is supported by a technical team of six CNRS/IMT-Atlantique staff members who are fully proficient in the use of the equipment to ensure its proper functioning and to meet three levels of demand: routine analytical services, advanced analytical expertise, and services incorporating modeling and scientific interpretation.

The platform covers an area of 560m2, divided between chemistry and instrumental technique rooms. It includes 150m2 of monitored areas, 200m2 of restricted access areas (RAA) and an ISO 7 clean room. The platform has laboratory rooms dedicated to conducting experiments, preparing solid samples and performing instrumental analysis techniques withauxiliary equipments, covering four areas of expertise:

  • Nuclear metrology and ICP mass spectrometry for elemental/isotopic measurement of radioelements and chemical elements down to ultra-trace levels
  • Ion chromatography and liquid TOC for physicochemical analysis
  • HPLC-UV/gamma/MS detection for speciation analysis
  • XRD, FTIR, solid TOC, and laser HR-ICP-MS for solid characterization
