Constraining Dark Matter Models with the direct detection XENON1T experiment measurements and direct production results at the LHC
Descriptif :
Understanding of the nature of Dark Matter is one of the biggest challenges in frontier science today. The number of theoretical models aiming at explaining the nature of possible Dark Matter candidates is rapidly increasing in the past few years. At the same time, the XENON1T experiment is opening new experimental widows on direct detection especially for WIMPs candidate search, while the proton-proton high-energy collisions at the LHC are complementary exploiting the production of new states of matter whose characteristics are consistent with the ones of Dark Matter candidates.
The candidate will first work in collaboration with theorist colleagues to examine a set of Dark Matter Models compatible with the experimental windows of both direct detection and experiments at colliders, and then he/she will test those models on the most recent XENON1T data.
